The National Ballet Theatre of Atlanta ("NBTOA," "we," "us") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Atlanta, Georgia. This policy explains what personal information we collect through nbtoa.org, why we collect it, and what choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.
Information we collect
When you join our mailing list.
Our sign-up form collects your first name, last name, and email address. We collect this only when you enter it yourself.
When you make a donation.
Donations are processed by Givebutter, a third-party fundraising platform. Payment information — your card or bank details — goes directly to Givebutter and its payment processors. We never see or store your full payment card number. What we do receive from Givebutter is your name, email address, mailing address, donation amount, donation date, and any message or dedication you include with your gift. If you choose to give anonymously, we honor that in our public acknowledgements, though we still receive your details for tax-receipting and record-keeping.
When you contact us.
If you email us or write to us about auditions, board service, partnerships, or anything else, we keep your message and contact details so we can respond and follow up.
Automatically, when you visit the site.
Our site is built on Wix, which collects standard technical information: your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you visit, and how you arrived at the site. This is used for security and to understand which pages people find useful.
How we use your information
We use what we collect to:
· Send you our newsletter and company news, if you have asked for them;
· Process your donation, send your tax receipt, and thank you properly;
· Keep accurate financial and donor records, as nonprofits are required to do;
· Respond to your questions;
· Invite you to performances, open rehearsals, and events;
· Understand how people use our website so we can improve it.
We do not use automated decision-making or profiling to make decisions about you.
What we will never do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent, trade, or share our donor list or mailing list with other organizations for their own marketing — not with other arts organizations, not with anyone. This is a common practice in the nonprofit sector, and we have chosen not to participate in it.
Whom we share information with
We share information only with the service providers who make the organization run, and only to the extent they need it:
· Givebutter, which processes donations and issues receipts;
· Wix, which hosts our website and mailing list;
· [ACCOUNTANT OR BOOKKEEPER, IF THEY HANDLE DONOR RECORDS];
· Our board members and staff, where needed to carry out the work described above.
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how it handles your data. We also disclose information where the law requires it — in response to a valid legal request, or to protect the safety and rights of the organization or others. If we ever merge with or transfer our operations to another organization, donor records may transfer as part of that, and we will notify you.
Public acknowledgement of donors
We may list donor names in performance programs, on our website, and in annual reports. We will not publish your donation amount, address, or contact details. If you would prefer not to be listed at all, tell us at info@nbtoa.org or select the anonymous option when you give, and we will honor it.
Cookies
Our site uses cookies — small files stored by your browser. Wix uses essential cookies to keep the site secure and working properly, and analytics cookies to count visits. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may stop working correctly if you block the essential ones.
Your choices
Unsubscribe.
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. You can also email info@nbtoa.org and we will remove you. Note that if you have donated, we may still need to send you tax receipts and other administrative messages.
See, correct, or delete your information.
Email info@nbtoa.org, and we will tell you what we have on file, correct anything wrong, or delete it. We will respond within [30] days. We may need to keep certain donation records regardless, because tax law requires it.
If you live outside the United States.
Our servers and operations are in the United States, and your information is processed here. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the GDPR, including the right to object to processing, to request a portable copy of your data, and to complain to your national data protection authority. Contact us, and we will honor these requests.
Children’s privacy
Our website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we begin offering classes, youth programs, or school residencies, we will collect student information only from a parent or guardian, and we will update this policy before we do. If you believe a child has given us information through this site, email info@nbtoa.org and we will delete it.

How we protect your information
Our site uses HTTPS encryption. Givebutter processes donations through its own secure, PCI-compliant systems. Access to donor records is limited to the board members and staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you give us. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by Georgia law.
How long we keep it
We keep mailing list information until you unsubscribe. We keep donation records for at least seven years, as required for tax and audit purposes. Correspondence is kept as long as it is relevant to our work with you.
Links to other sites
Our site links to Givebutter, YouTube, and our social media accounts. Once you leave nbtoa.org, this policy no longer applies — those services have their own privacy policies, and we would encourage you to read them.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as the organization grows — when we begin selling tickets, launch classes, or add new services. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. For significant changes affecting how we use information we already hold, we will notify mailing list subscribers by email.
